Poria cocos extract (Indian BreadExtract) is derived from the dry sclerotia of Polyporaceae Poriacocos (Schw.) Wolf. Poria cocos is an annual or perennial fungus. The ancient names are Fuling and Futu. Alias Song Potato, Songling, Songbaiyu and so on. Use sclerotia as medicine. Mainly produced in Hebei, Henan, Shandong, Anhui, Zhejiang and other places. Poria cocos extract mainly contains triterpenes and polysaccharides, which have the functions of invigorating the spleen, calming the nerves, diuresis, and dampness. It is used for the treatment of insufficiency of the spleen, lack of food, edema and oliguria. Modern pharmacological studies have shown that Poria cocos has various pharmacological effects such as inhibiting the growth of spleen tumors and enhancing the body's immunity.

 

Funtions : 

1. Diuresis and swelling effect: Lingsu is a new aldosterone receptor antagonist, which is beneficial to excrete urine, restore kidney function, and eliminate protein.

2. Effects on the digestive system: Poria cocos triterpene compound enhances the differentiation-inducing activity  and the triterpene compound itself also has differentiation-inducing activity. Poria cocos triterpenes and their derivatives can inhibit the vomiting caused by oral administration of copper sulfate in frogs.

3. Prevention of calculi: Poria cocos can effectively inhibit the formation and deposition of calcium oxalate crystals in the kidneys of rats, and has a good anti-lithiasis effect.

4. Anti-rejection effect: Poria cocos extract has obvious inhibitory effect on acute rejection of heterotopic heart transplantation in rats.

5. Antibacterial and antiviral effects: 100% Poria cocos extract filter paper has inhibitory effect on Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus albus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Bacillus anthracis, Escherichia coli, Streptococcus A and Streptococcus B.

6. Anticonvulsant effect: The total triterpenes of Poria cocos can resist electric shock and pentylenetetrazol convulsions to varying degrees, which proves that the total triterpenes of Poria cocos has obvious anticonvulsant effect.

7. Anti-inflammatory effect: The total triterpenoids of Poria cocos have inhibitory effects on acute inflammations such as ear swelling in mice caused by xylene and capillary permeability in the abdominal cavity of mice, and also have a strong effect on subacute inflammation of cotton ball granuloma in rats. Inhibitory effect, indicating that the total triterpene components of Poria cocos is one of the main effective parts of the anti-inflammatory effect of Poria cocos, and its mechanism may be related to the activity of phospholipase A2 inhibited by the triterpene components contained in it.

8. Whitening effect: Poria cocos has a significant inhibitory effect on tyrosinase and it is a competitive inhibition. Reducing melanin production by inhibiting tyrosinase activity may be one of the mechanisms of whitening traditional Chinese medicine.
