Recent research has shown that this fruit contains one of the highest natural vitamin C contents of any food in the world. Camu camu camu and guava belong to the Myrtaceae family. The pulp is almost translucent white. Camu-camu has a very high vitamin C content (approximately 2-3% of fresh weight).Vitamin C content decreases with full ripeness, creating a trade-off between vitamin C and flavor expression.
