Camu camu is a native fruit of the Peruvian Amazon, mostly in floodable areas; it grows on a tree that can reach 5 ms of height. It bears round, bulby fruit, similar to cherries with a diameter of about 3 cms. , that weighs about 20 grs. The ripe fruit pulp can be eaten, with a lovely acid flavor, similar to cherries or lemon. Its most important feature is its high content in ascorbic acid. Camu camu contains more vitamin C than any other fruit on the planet: between 1,800 and 2,780 mg. per 100 grs. camu camu pulp. Compared to oranges, camu camu offers 30 times more vitamin C, 10 times
more iron, 3 times more niacin, twice as much riboflavin, and fifty percent more phosphor.
 

Camu Furit Powder : Camu Camu fruit is shaped like a grape and has a fruit diameter of 2 to 3cm. The fruit takes on a beautiful purple-red color when ripe. Camu camu camu and guava belong to the Myrtaceae family. The pulp is almost translucent white. The taste is extremely sour because Camu Camu contains a very high dose of natural vitamin C, which is 60 times more than that of citrus fruits.

Camu-camu has a very high vitamin C content (approximately 2-3% of fresh weight).Vitamin C content decreases with full ripeness, creating a trade-off between vitamin C and flavor expression.


The fruit is rich in flavonoids such as anthocyanins, flavonols, flavanols, catechins, delphinidin 3-glucoside, anthocyanin 3-glucoside, ellagic acid, rutin and other flavonoids.Other analyzes showed the presence of gallic acid and ellagic acid, indicating that the fruit has hydrolyzable tannins (gallitannins and ellagitannins).
